one of movara’s most loved hikes: the saddle

There are hikes you enjoy—and then there are hikes you remember.

The Saddle is one of the most requested hikes at Movara, and for good reason. With challenging climbs, incredible views and changing terrain, it gives you a little bit of everything Southern Utah hiking has to offer.

Difficulty: Intermediate/Advanced
Distance: 4.5 miles
Elevation Gain: 800 feet

The hike begins in a canyon before heading into a steep 1.5-mile climb to the top of the saddle. And that climb? It’s worth it.

From the top, you’re rewarded with spectacular views of Padre Canyon before making your way down through rocky terrain, sandstone and a drainage canyon. Along the way, there are a few places where you’ll use your hands to maneuver around obstacles—and depending on the time of year, you may even find beautiful pools tucked into the landscape.

It’s challenging. It’s beautiful. And it’s exactly the kind of hike that reminds you what you’re capable of.
