movara stories: meet kim

Every person who walks through the doors at Movara has a story. Different goals, different challenges and different reasons for being here—but one thing we see again and again is what can happen when someone decides to start showing up for themselves.

Meet Kimberly Weston from Jersey City, New Jersey.

Kimberly lives with her husband and is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Human Capital Management. She's also working toward a very personal goal: going from 310 pounds to completing her first 10K race in April.

She even started a social media account to document the journey—the successes, the not-so-successful days, and everything she's learning along the way.

Why Movara?

After a physical in August brought some unexpected health news, Kimberly knew she wanted to make her health a priority.

She came to Movara hoping to get stronger, work on her nutrition and eating habits, and begin building a healthier routine she could actually continue at home.

Just a month before arriving, she had been fairly sedentary and struggling with everyday things like walking and tying her shoes.

And then she started showing herself what she could do.

She jogged on the treadmill. She completed a hike. She increased her walking pace from 2.0 to 2.5—with an incline.

But perhaps even more important than those physical wins was the confidence she started building along the way.

“I’ve become more confident in my ability to fuel and take care of my body.”

Taking Movara Home

One of Kimberly's biggest takeaways came from meeting with Movara nutritionist Melissa. Together, they determined calorie and macronutrient goals that Kimberly could use to support both her short- and long-term goals.

With that knowledge, Kimberly was able to start building her own meal plan—and, most importantly, leave Movara with something practical she can continue using at home.

Her advice to someone else working on their own wellness journey?

“Realize that every day your best and what you can do looks different, and don’t try to do everything all at once. Start small and build from there.”

And we especially love this reminder from Kimberly:

“Remember your body is your friend, not your enemy.”

She also credits community and accountability as an important part of continuing to show up—even if showing up means five minutes one day and a full day of movement the next.
