FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Focus: Flexibility

Stretch - Restorative flexibility class using static stretching and light dynamic or ballistic stretching. May include stretch-assisting implements like yoga straps, blocks, and foam rollers.

High-Yo - Yoga-inspired music-driven deep stretch class on a mat incorporating strength and balance.

Pool Fit Float - Find your balance — literally! This yoga-inspired class takes place on floating boards in the pool; combining strength, flexibility, and stability in a calming water-based setting. You’ll flow through poses while engaging your core to stay centered on the board, turning every move into a full-body challenge. It's a peaceful yet powerful way to build body awareness, improve balance, and enjoy the meditative benefits of movement on water.

Reformer Pilates - Experience the power of precision with Reformer Pilates — a dynamic, low-impact workout that uses the Pilates reformer machine to build strength, improve posture, and enhance flexibility. With controlled movements and resistance-based exercises, you’ll target deep core muscles, sculpt your entire body, and increase mobility. Perfect for all levels, this class focuses on alignment, breath, and mindful movement for a full-body transformation.

Chair Yoga - During Chair Yoga, you will see and feel for yourself all the benefits of chair exercises. While sitting and/or using your chair to assist, you will be guided through an entire yoga session meant to improve mobility, strength, flexibility, and even cardio. All fitness levels can participate.

Focus: Strength

Core - Sculpt, strengthen, and tighten with this focused workout that targets your biceps, triceps, shoulders, and core. Using just a set of dumbbells and a mat, you'll alternate between upper-body strength exercises and core crushers to build lean muscle and stability. Whether you're looking to tone your arms or fire up your abs, this session delivers a solid burn without needing a lot of space or equipment.

AMRAP - AMRAP is an acronym that stands for “As Many Rounds/Reps As Possible”. In this format, each guest will work for the same amount of time, completing as much work/exercise as possible, ensuring a great muscle building and calorie-burning workout regardless of current fitness level. The format changes weekly but includes total-body functional movements using varying equipment like dumbbells, medicine balls, weight bars, fitness balls, bands etc.

Bootcamp - “Bootcamp” traditionally focuses on higher-rep, lower-weight, or bodyweight functional movements. Because the focus is on increased reps, muscle fatigue and “burn”, the workout is as much mental as it is physical.

Body Blast - Body-Blast format changes each week but is a total-body workout that uses a number of different pieces of equipment, isolating individual muscle groups to assist each of us to see where are strengths and weaknesses are, as well as any imbalances.

TRX - TRX or Total Resistance eXercises, is a type of suspension training that uses body weight and gravity to develop strength, balance, flexibility and core stability. Suspension training takes traditionally “closed-chain”/more stable exercises, and makes them “open chain” exercises that require the body to stabilize itself through the exercises range of motion. Each exercise can be altered making it more difficult or easier simply by changing the angle of the body.

Pool - Each pool class varies based on the instructor teaching the class. Pool classes use equipment like aqua-bells, noodles, and body weight to increase heart rate, build muscle, increase joint range of motion, and burning calories in a low-impact environment. Work in the pool is a popular alternative activity for many guests with significant joint pain and movement limitations.

Circuit - Circuit has been the foundational fitness class at Movara since the beginning. It’s a strength/cardio hybrid format. Each guest will be coached through a series of two-minute working sets alternating between cardio machines and pin selected weight machines.

Mat Pilates - Mat based Pilates focuses on strength, stability, posture, proper breath control, and flexibility. Each class will work to balance all muscle groups; strength and flexibility, with an emphasis on challenging the core muscles with each movement. Classes will be taught using slow, controlled movements. Movara also has small group and private Pilates Reformer classes upon request.

Tone/Stretch - A quick, fun, full body tone up using dumbbells and a mat. You'll get a great stretch also with uplifting music!

Barre - Barre is a progressively rigorous workout that blends elements from different exercise styles including ballet, pilates, and yoga. Movara’s barre class welcome first-timers as well as seasoned practitioners. Get ready to feel muscles you didn’t know you had and have never felt before.

Cards Workout - Get ready for a workout full of surprises! In this group-style session, the class draws one card at a time — and whatever comes up determines the next exercise for everyone. Each suit stands for a different movement, and the number tells you how many reps to knock out. It’s a fun, team-driven way to stay active, build variety into your routine, and keep everyone guessing what’s next. No deck shuffle is the same!

Arms & Abs - Sculpt, strengthen, and tighten with this focused workout that targets your biceps, triceps, shoulders, and core. Using just a set of dumbbells and a mat, you'll alternate between upper-body strength exercises and core crushers to build lean muscle and stability. Strength - In Strength, you will learn all the basics of strength training. Using weight machines, free weights, and cables, you will be guided through each set, watched by professional trainers to ensure proper form is being used. Your strength will be tested. Any fitness level can participate.

Boxing - Full body workout involving punches, jab combinations, kicks including neuro-motor skills. Great cardio workout that includes strength.

Last Blast - Last Blast is offered once a week as the last class on the weekly schedule. It is a 90-minute class divided into three consecutive 30-minute blocks. The first 30 minutes is in the gym focusing on primarily cardio training. The second 30 minutes is in the court focusing on strength, and the final 30 is flexibility work. Whether a guest is staying over or heading home, there’s no better way to head into the weekend!

Court Challenge - Ready for a challenge? This class uses lots of different exercises and equipment to build strength and cardiovascular endurance.

Elevator - This bootcamp-style workout class was themed around the 12 days of Christmas song. The series of exercises are focused on resistance and aerobic training that are repeated throughout the workout.

Chisel - In this action-packed class, everyone has their own mat and weights. You will be guided through a series of full-body movements. You will perform high rep counts with lighter weights, meant to boost your heart rate, burn calories, and pump those muscles! Plenty of modifications are shown during class. All fitness levels can participate.

Focus: Cardio

Mountain - Select the cardio machine of your choice. Mountain increases aerobic conditioning and cardio-pulmonary efficiency by increasing intensity/heart rate primarily through resistance and/or incline.

Cardio Intervals - Select the cardio machine of your choice. Cardio intervals increase aerobic conditioning and cardio-pulmonary efficiency by increasing intensity/heart rate through a series of specifically timed intervals at varying speeds and/or resistance levels.

Treading - Select the cardio machine of your choice. Initially designed as a treadmill specific workout, but can be adapted to any cardio machine. Treading increases aerobic conditioning and cardio-pulmonary efficiency by increasing intensity/heart rate through a series of specifically timed intervals at varying speeds and/or resistance levels.

Cinco Speed - Select the cardio machine of your choice. Cinco gets its name because we work in 5-minute intervals, where each 5-minute block should be approached as its own workout. Placed at the end of the week, Cinco is designed to push further with higher intensities and guarantees that you will leave having done more than you thought physically possible before taking the class.

Pickleball - In this class, you will learn about and play the sport of pickleball. Pickleball is a racquet sport where most fitness levels can participate. It can be fast paced and can also be slower paced as well. It's a great reminder that you can have fun while exercising and burning calories at the same time!
