5 Self-Reflection Questions to Guide You into the New Year

As the New Year approaches, many of us start thinking about resolutions, goals, and the changes we hope to make. But before we jump into checklists or commitments, there’s something even more meaningful we can do:

Pause. Reflect. Listen inward.

I truly believe we already carry the answers we’re searching for — we just need the courage and quiet space to hear them. These five self-reflection questions are designed to help you reconnect with your intuition and gain clarity in a compassionate, nonjudgmental way.

There are no right or wrong answers.
Only honesty, awareness, and the gentle truth that emerges when you give yourself permission to slow down and reflect.

1. What does my mind wander to most throughout the day?

Where does your attention naturally drift?

If your thoughts are frequently centered around food or your weight, gently explore why.
Is your mind asking for nourishment? Reassurance? A shift in focus?

Ask yourself:
Where could my mental energy serve me better?
And what practices might help calm or redirect unhelpful thought patterns?

2. How much of my day is spent worrying about others’ opinions?

Do you catch yourself:

  • Making assumptions

  • Comparing yourself to others

  • Judging your worth based on imagined expectations

These patterns can create real physical and emotional symptoms such as anxiety, restlessness, or low mood.

Notice where these worries show up — and ask:
What would my day feel like if I cared just a little less about external judgment and a little more about my own peace?

3. What is working well for me right now?

Take inventory of the habits, routines, or self-care practices that truly support you.
What brings value, calm, nourishment, or joy?

Give yourself credit for the things you’re doing right.
Sometimes progress starts with recognizing what’s already serving you.

4. What isn’t working for me right now?

Just as important is noticing what feels heavy, ineffective, distracting, or misaligned.

Where are you forcing something that no longer fits?
What habits are taking more than they give?

Letting go can be just as powerful as adding something new.

5. If I repeated today over and over again, would it lead me toward the life I want?

This question isn’t about perfection — it’s about direction.

Are your daily actions supporting your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health?
Are you allowing your best to be good enough?
And do you trust in gradual healing, growth, and the power of small, consistent steps?

The path to change isn’t linear or fast — but it is built one intentional day at a time.
