Smoothie Countdown

Last week I discussed convenience foods, and one of my favorite go-to fast meal or snack idea is a smoothie. Depending on what you add to them, smoothies can be a little snack to tide you over during an unexpected long break between meals or they can sub as a meal on days where cooking is just not an option. Here are my top ten natural, home-made smoothies…enjoy and please share if you have any other favorites!

10)Blueberry Banana Smoothie – Blend together frozen blueberries, 1/2 banana, nonfat milk/almond or soy milk, small spoonful of honey

9)Breakfast Oatmeal Smoothie – Blend together Trader Joe’s frozen cherry berry mix, skim milk, oats (original or steel cut) and a little truvia

8)Creamsicle Smoothie – Blend together ice, fresh squeezed orange juice and either nonfat vanilla yogurt or plain greek yogurt with a touch of vanilla extract

7)Choco-berry Smoothie – Blend together frozen strawberries, plain greek yogurt, almond milk and one tablespoon of unsweetened cocoa powder
