Self-Compassion vs Self-Discipline

We live in a culture that is full of “fitspiration”, food rules and constant weight loss talk.  It’s easy to believe that a judgmental and critical mindset will eventually shame us into being more disciplined with food and exercise.  In my experience, it’s the exact opposite.  When you are hard on yourself, you only encourage a dysfunctional and unhealthy relationship with food and exercise.  So I loved this when I came across it the other day…

self love

How can you show yourself more compassion, patience and love?  It’s really hard to take care of something you don’t like.  If you don’t feel worth taking care of, it’s going to be hard to make effective and long lasting changes.  So where you think you need more self-control and willpower, experiment with more self-compassion.
