The Biggest Loser Resort Joins the Fight to Defeat Obesity and Diabetes In Our Military Ranks
Will provide 15% discount to active and retired military personnel and their spouses
In honor of Veteran’s Day we are proud to announce that Fitness Ridge Worldwide, LLC, the owner and operator of the award-winning The Biggest Loser Resort, is joining the fight to defeat obesity and diabetes in the military by extending a 15% discount to active and retired military personnel and their spouses who attend the award-winning Biggest Loser Resorts.
According to the Air Force Medical Support Agency proposal titled Preventing Obesity in Military Communities dated Aug. 29, 2011, ?Obesity directly impacts the U.S. military, affecting the health and readiness of active duty service members and their families. Costs related to obesity, conservatively estimated at almost $2 billion per year, are incurred to the Department of Defense through medical expenses associated with obesity and its related co-morbidities as well as absenteeism, recruitment, and retention.?
The Biggest Loser Resort, now operating in Ivins, UT, Malibu, CA, and Niagara Falls/Buffalo, NY, offers adults of all ages, fitness levels and sizes a unique weight-loss and wellness immersive experience designed by an integrative team of certified trainers, nutritionists, executive chefs, and other wellness professionals. Founded on a five-point philosophy of fitness, nutrition, education, relaxation, and community support, guests at The Biggest Loser Resort enjoy a structured and nutritionally balanced, boot-camp style experience that focuses on weight loss and improving the direction of each guest?s life.
?We applaud the hard work, dedication and heroism demonstrated by all members of our armed forces. Helping our military and their families reach their health goals by providing a discount to attend one of our award-winning resorts is just one way that we can give back and show how much we appreciate their service to our country and the sacrifices that their families make as well,? said Larry Bond, CEO of The Biggest Loser Resort. ?We know from speaking with military doctors that many retirees and active duty personnel and their spouses are at a high risk for type 2 diabetes. Many of our guests have either pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes. The good news is that the weight loss experience we offer at The Biggest Loser Resort has helped many people learn to manage their disease, through proper nutrition, exercise and social camaraderie,? he added.
?Having spent a week at The Biggest Loser Resort Malibu this past June, I can honestly say it was an amazing, educational and rewarding experience,? said recent Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, U.S. Marine Corps, Ret.
To receive the discount, active and retired military personnel and their spouses need only to call the Resort?s reservation line at (855) 727-8567 and provide their military issue ID at the time of booking and checking in. Discount may not be combined with other offers.
