Hummus

Hummus derives from Middle Eastern and Arabic food and is a dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice salt and garlic. Today, hummus is a popular ‘healthy’ treat around the globe! 

Here is our recipe for homemade chickpea Hummus. 

 

Chickpea Hummus

1/4 cup serving = 70 calories
Serves 6
Ingredients: chickpeas

1 can low sodium chick peas, rinsed and drained
1/2 tsp salt
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp tahini paste

Directions: 
Combine all ingredients in food processor and mix until smooth.  Serve with pita crisps, crackers, veggies, or as a sandwich spread.
Note:
