Movara Featured Recipe: Chickpea Hummus


Hummus derives from Middle Eastern and Arabic food and is a dip or spread made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, olive oil, lemon juice salt and garlic. Today, hummus is a popular ‘healthy’ treat around the globe! 

Here is our recipe for homemade chickpea Hummus. 


Chickpea Hummus

1/4 cup serving = 70 calories
Serves 6
Ingredients: chickpeas

1 can low sodium chick peas, rinsed and drained
1/2 tsp salt
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp lemon juice
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp tahini paste

Combine all ingredients in food processor and mix until smooth.  Serve with pita crisps, crackers, veggies, or as a sandwich spread.

Want to add more pizzaz to your hummus? Add your favorite herb(s) or vegetable to the above recipe. We love adding basil or red pepper to our hummus recipe.
