Cardio. By now we all know how important cardio is, along with strength training, in our quest for weight loss. But did you know cardio is also extremely important in improving and maintaining one?s cardiovascular health?  Individuals of every shape and size need cardio. There?s just no way around it!

At The Fitness Ridge we offer many various cardio endurance classes. Today, we?re sharing with you our Cardio Interval Class. This 40-minute workout can be done in the gym on your choice of cardio machinery, or outside walking and/or running. Whatever your preference, you can cater the workout to suit your needs. Just remember, ?You can do ANYTHING for ONE MINUTE?! When your body is uncomfortable, that’s when it’s changing – building strength through lean muscle and burning fat!

Cardio Interval Workout
40 Minutes – High Intenstiy Interval
  • 5 minute warm up
  • Eight 30-second increases of intensity (hold the 8th increase for 60-seconds) 
  • Seven 30-second decreases of intensity, back to baseline 
  • 2 minutes active recovery at baseline
  • 1 minute strength spring (increase/resistance high with moderate speed)
  • 1 minute recovery at baseline 
  • 1 minute sprint (fast speed) 
  • 2 minutes recovery at baseline
  • Eight 30-second increases of intensity (hold the 8th increase for 60-seconds)
  • Seven 30-second decreases of intensity, back to baseline
  • 2 minutes active recovery at baseline
  • 1 minute strength spring (increase/resistance high with moderate speed)
  • 1 minute recovery at baseline
  • 1 minute sprint (fast speed)
  • 2 minutes recovery at baseline
  • 5 minute cool down
