Labor Day is just around the corner, and for many people that calls for a barbecued feast of messy ribs, butter-soaked corn and beer. This Labor Day how about trying something different? Impress the crowd with something a bit more glamorous and a lot more healthy with some foil-pouch cooking. Foil-pouch cooking reaps some beautiful meals but takes less than ten minutes to prepare and about twenty minutes to cook, can you say convenient? More time to get to socialize with your friends and family instead of working hard at the barbecue!
Foil-pouch cooking is simple, just follow these simple directions:
-Tear off a large strip of foil (generally about twenty inches will do the trick)
-Place the food combination in the middle of the foil
-Fold the foil over the food and pinch together at the top of the pouch
-Cook for about twenty minutes (or until food in thoroughly cooked) at 350 degrees
For awesome food pairing ideas try some of these out this weekend. Please do not hesitate to share more as well!
-Salmon, sliced kumquats, cucumbers, lime juice and dill
-Shrimp, brown rice, chopped cauliflower, zucchini pieces, minced garlic, cherry tomatoes and hot sauce
-Garbanzo beans, chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, carrots, broccoli, corn, onion wedges, tsp. olive oil and turmeric
-Sliced peaches, nectarines, apricots, drizzle of honey and pumpkin pie spice (cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, cloves)
