Canadian Brands

We get quite a few guests at the Resort each week that are from Canada. They are a bit frustrated that I don’t include brand recommendations for Canadians. This is understandable. I have never lived in or even visited Canada (although I would love to!) so I am very unfamiliar with Canadian brands. But I have conducted a bit of homework and thought I would compile a list. I hope this is helpful!

Grains: Look for whole grains in the ingredient list, 80-120 calories per serving, 3-5 grams fiber and less than 6 grams of sugar.
  • Kashi
  • Nature’s Path
  • Food For Life
  • Ezekial
  • La Tortilla Factory
  • Annie’s Homegrown
  • Bob’s Red Mill
  • Hodgson’s Mill
  • Triscuits
  • Barbara’s Bakery
  • Back to Nature
  • Nature Valley
  • Quaker
Dairy: Buying unsweetened dairy products is always preferred. If it is flavored, aim for less than 20 grams of sugar per serving.
  • Eden Soy Milk
  • Almond Breeze
  • Silk Soy Milk
  • Liberte
  • Stonyfield Farms
  • Oikos
  • Horizon
  • Chobani
  • Siggi’s
  • Skotidakis
  • Total (Like Fage greek yogurt in the US)
Meats: Referring to lunch meats (you can view a blog post about those here)
  • Applegate Farms
  • Maple Leaf Natural Selections
Fats:
  • Smucker’s Natural Peanut Butter
  • Adam’s Natural Peanut Butter
  • Goodness Me Natural Peanut Butter
  • Earth balance spreads
Others:
  • Kind Bars
  • Larabars
  • Amy’s brand (soups, frozen meals)
  • Healthy Choice (soups, frozen meals)
  • Eden brand canned beans, fruit, oils and vinegars, whole grains
And I know you have fresh fruits and vegetables :).
Did I miss any? If there are any Canadians that have questions on brands, you are more than welcome to post them in the comments and I can look into them. In fact, it will only add to the list!
