Oftentimes I find myself in the grocery store reading through new exciting-looking food item’s ingredients lists. I am always on the look out for sweet tooth and savory craving food fixes that are brand new so that no one gets bored with the same old fixes from day to day. A lot of times a new item will look good and healthy until the last ingredient and I will think to myself “why did they have to add the aspartame, etc.?!” Today I caught myself doing the same to a new brand of peanut butter from Peanut Butter and Company.
The brand does a great job of keeping out artificial ingredients, but I just think that there is no need to go adding extra saturated fats or sugars to your nut butter. Instead of getting discouraged again about another almost great new find I figured why not use some ideas from this great company to make your own spin on peanut butter! I really liked how Peanut Butter and Company had extra sweet flavors like dark chocolate, but also savory like their The Heat Is On flavor. To make your own extra sweet or savory nut butters try adding these pantry baking items to your original Laura Scudder’s nut butter – cayenne pepper, paprika, turmeric, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking cocoa or ginger. For an easy savory fix try out 2 tablespoons of nut butter mixed with cayenne pepper and ginger then topped with fresh mango slices in between two sandwich thins. For a sweet fix do the same but with cocoa and cinnamon mixed in and sliced berries. Do you have any other out-of-the-box spins on peanut butter?
